The Origins of International Workers' Day
International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day in some places, has a rich history that dates back over a century. Originating during the labour union movement in the United States, the day commemorates the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago, where a peaceful rally in support of workers striking for an eight-hour day turned tragic following a bomb thrown at police. This event became a pivotal moment in the fight for workers' rights and has since been honoured around the world as a day to celebrate the achievements and continue the advocacy for fair labour practices.
Why We Celebrate
For us at Grumpy Panda, International Workers' Day is a reflection of our own values. We believe in the power of hard work, the importance of quality, and the impact of doing what you love. We recognise and celebrate the grind and grit of all workers—especially those in small businesses, who often wear multiple hats and juggle numerous responsibilities.
Today, we give a huge shout-out to everyone who's in the trenches, working hard to make their dreams a reality. Whether you’re a café owner, a local artisan, or running a small shop, your passion and persistence are what keep the heart of our community beating.
Keep Brewing Positivity
As we continue our journey at Grumpy Panda, we remain committed to infusing every product with positivity—even if it's slightly grumpy! Our coffee is more than just a beverage; it’s a morning ritual, a picker-upper, and a brew that brings people together. Our hot chocolates and herbal teas are crafted to warm the soul and lift the spirits.
On this International Workers' Day, we raise our mugs to all hard-working souls. Keep brewing positivity, keep spreading kindness, and remember, every small effort adds up to something great.
Here's to the workers, the dreamers, the makers, and the doers. Cheers to you all! ☕🐼💪
